I make nice websites; but there’s also a couple more things you should know about how I design.
All to often nowadays, web designers are focusing way too much on the aesthetics of their website, and forgetting about what really constitutes good design: attaining the goal.
I design for your website. I take careful consideration of the site’s goal, content, and demographic, and design specifically for these things. The aesthetic pleasantness comes later in the process when I design for the user experience. This is why, not only are the websites I design nice, but they do their job and are really effective.
To the right are my 6 most recent projects. Many designer portfolios only include their best work. I believe in maintaining a high quality standard and being transparent about my work.
AcrylicPix is a company specializing in online photo printing on acrylic. I built their online presence from the ground up. I did all of the branding including the logo design and even the name choice.
I then developed a custom designed e-commerce website using WordPress as the platform so the owner could add content himself. The e-commerce allows the user to choose the size of product, a bunch of photo options, and allows them to upload their custom photo.
I did extensive testing of the sales funnel and fine-tuned it to where we were achieving maximum shopper retention. The website also converts visitors very well and boasts an incredibly low bounce rate of less than 30% – with many visitors coming straight from search engines.
An SEO, Adwords and Facebook campaign was also done to increase traffic and brand awareness.
Here’s a screenshot of AcrylicPix’s homepage, which includes a bold video right off the bat to inform, retain, and encourage users to poke around as soon as they hit the site.
Montreal Customs is a custom ear plug manufacturer based in Montreal. They were looking for a simple website with a strong focus on social networking and their logo as the centerpiece. The website includes a custom contact form with uploading to take any orders.
Why? Simply Because is a new up and coming marketing company that spreads the word of products, services and ideas through social events. They wanted a site where people could gather and contribute to the website’s blog, share the word, and display upcoming events and other important news. A big part of this website was increasing brand recognition.
On the homepage is a striking video and message beside it that quickly explains to the user what the website is and does. The name is prominent on the homepage, and the navigation and background provides consistent branding throughout the entire website with the subtle presence of the megaphone logo and the bold color scheme. The rest of the site (visit: WhySimplyBecause.com) was designed to showcase a lot of content while remaining simple and effective. The navigation is the center piece here with such a wide range of possible places the user can explore. The diagonal line that separates the page’s main content draws the eye towards the sidebar which is focused on social networking and the website’s sponsors.
